**this census record states Hugh has his naturalization papers but Esther is still waiting (Alien). But I would think Hugh's papers would also make his wife naturalized?

*Sure looks like this is your guy. The index appears to have the dates mixed up. On the original document it has two dates listed:
18 may 1923..declaration of intention
23 apr 1929..date of order of admission
I would think the 1923 was the date he arrived and the 1929 was the date he applied for naturalization.
Hugh Thomson Christie imm 17 apr 1923 to New York. States he was in the US before 1912-1913(or 1915). He is 35 and listed as Single...Going to live with brother, Duncan Christie, in New York City...at 515 W24th St. He arrived on the USS Assyria.
