Hello Dick,

I apologize for causing you to exert a great deal of effort as you responded to my request about Hettie Alice Alcorn. I have never used the Iowa site of GenForum before and in addition to not being aware of how to best facilitate the information on this site, I was also not aware of the policies. I personally would rather allow anyone to know my email address. It appeared that most of the requests were done in the manner that I attempted, but I can see why you were upset. Please forgive me. I am well up in my final years of life, not too experienced with computers or the wonderful services that they provide. I did most of my genealogical work when I was younger and thinking more clearly, but I am attempting to bring some closure to lines that have remained static for many years.

You are welcome to my email address. It is grandpapsboy@yahoo.com. Maybe I can get over to Henry County and check your lead out the old fashion way. I rather think that my research efforts would be less cumbersome to others that way, and I suspect that I would be able to trace Hettie better that way too.

She and Jacob are my direct ancestors and are in fact my maternal 2nd great grandparents. Cora Elsie Carnal, daughter of Alfred Jack Carnal and Mary Alice Cossairt are my lst great grandparents and Jacob Cossairt and Hettie/Hetty Alice Alcorn are my 2nd Great Grandparents.
All of these wonderful people are buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield, Stoddard, Missouri. They are buried less than a block from each other, and Mary Alice Cossairt is buried with her husband, Alfred Jack Carnal directly across the road from her Father and Mother Jacob Cossairt and Hettie Alice Cossairt and several of her siblings.

I have been able to trace the Cossairt family all the way back to Franace, but the Carnal's and Alcorn's have been another experience, very elusive in the pages of History.
Guess they hid their addresses too! I also have the connecting families well documented all the way back to their original home lands of the Netherlands, France and England, Switzerland and Germany. It is a fun group and I am willing to share that information if anyone is interested.

Jacob and Hetty moved around a lot. Jacob was born on 3 Jan 1834 in Darke County, Ohio. He and his father, Francis Cossairt moved to Iowa where Jacob met Hetty and married her. Jacob and several of his brothers joined the Union Army early in 1861. Jacob was in the 8th Missouri State Militia and his father and brothers joined several units out of Iowa. Brave, but tragic. Jacob and his father moved to Hickory County Missouri where Jacob remained until after the war and then he moved back to Indiana and then back to Iowa before locating in Stoddard County Missouri where he became a part of my life. I didn't realize that people moved around so much back then as I am a 7th generation Stoddard County Missourian. I have moved more than they did, but with the assistance of cars and trucks. They had horses, wagons and riverboats.

You can tell that I enjoy genealogy. I love my family and love sharing knowledge with those that are trying to locate their families. I am sorry, again, for mistakenly hiding my email from you. You may shout it from the rooftops if you please and if I can be of assistance to you please let me know. I appreciate your quick response.

God Bless you and take care. Stay happy and dummies like me won't irate you so much, or certainly not like I did.

Paul
