My ggg-grandfather, John Hinton, & 2 of his sons received US Land Patents in 1857 for land that was to become Hinton Township in Mecosta Co., MI. They were from Trafalgar Twp, Halton Co., Ontario. John was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales as was his father James.

By 1870, John's son, James & family had moved to northeastern Missouri. The family spread into Iowa & Arkansas by 1900. Many lived in Davenport, Scott Co. & in Clearfield area of Taylor Co., Iowa.

Would love to hear from other descendants of this rather small Hinton family. I have a lot of information about them.

No relation to the Hintons who settled in VA & the Carolinas during the colonial era.
