Trying to connect George D. Elam, b. 1837 Ohio and was in Wayne Co.IA and Mt. Ayr Twp in Ringgold Co. Iowa on the 1860 censu to the George Elam later on of Platte Co. Missouri. He was a stage driver. Entered the civil War union Army from Ringgold. In 1863 married Malinda C. Medley in Taylor Co. Iowa. She is thought to be daughter of Joseph and Nancy Mcintosh Medley of Sullivan County Indiana. Her family moved to Ringgold shortly after 1860. A George D. Elam is listed as marrying a Mrs. Malinda Davis (former wife of E.C. Davis) in Platte Co., Missouri in 1874. Malinda Davis had several children by her first husband, including Fannie who married a John F. Copeland in Platte County and was listed as a guardian of a minor in 1890 on George Elams Civil War Pension application. This family later on in 1900's moved to Leavenworth, Kansas. In Platte Co., Missouri on 1880 census were Giles and John Elam. These two were both listed with Geroge Elam in 1850 Ohio. Can anyone connect the Geroge Elam from Ohio to Iowa to Platte Co., Missouri? If so what happend to the first wife of George, Malinda C.(Catherine) Medley?
Tom
