Hello, I found this post in a search for my great-grandmother's name who was from Sicily. I am doing my Jewish Genealogy Research. I have documentation that her last name was "Iacodiana" but for some reason I can't seem to find that name anywhere at all!! It's as if it doesnt exist! Which is very frustrating for me. I was told that her name could have been spelled "Icondia", but my document states otherwise. What information or history do you happnen to know regarding the beginning of the surname "IA"?? Does it reference to YA as in Ya'akov? I am trying to find a Jewish link to this. If you can help in any insignifigant way I would appreciate it greatly!!! Thank you very much! Feel free to email me.
