Dear Iacono family members,
I am writing a book to be entitled "The Story of Weehawken, New Jersey." Recently I had the privilege of interviewing Stanley (Dello) Iacono, who was mayor of Weehawken from 1969 to 1974 and again from 1982 to 1990. His father, Gaetano (Guy) (Dello) Iacono served the township as building inspector for many years. Gaetano was born in 1895 in Union Hill, now a part of Union City, New Jersey. His family took him back to Italy to be cured of some illness, and then he grew up in Boston. As an adult, he returned to New Jersey, living in Jersey City and then Weehawken, and founded the family business, Arrow Iron Works. His wife was Antoinette (nee Capone). His father was Stanislao Dello Iacono, who apparently emigrated from Italy in the late 1800's. Can anyone tell me any more about the ancestry of this Iacono family?
