Hello! Yes, we are cousins somehow. I know that Mom has a cousin named Francis Wester. Let's see, I think Francis Wester may be her married name, and that Francis Knighten's maiden name was Wester. Anyway I know that Francis Knighten is her cousin. I've known her all my life. In fact me and my sister Terrie used to call her "Cousin Francis" when we were little. And Mom calls Francis Wester her cousin also, although I believe Wester is her married name. I have a few pictures of her family sitting on their porch back in 1969 or 70 with my Mom when we were visiting one time. First of all I wanted to say, I was wrong about the kidnapped boy being an Iams. I'm sorry. I should've asked my Aunt and Uncles about it first. After I received your e-mail, I called my Uncle Everett and he set me straight. But there was a boy who was kidnapped, he was John Wesley Porter. His daughter was Hattie Ellen Porter, she was born July 23rd, 1877, and she married Hugh Jasper Iams who was James Boyd Iams father. And yes, he did go by Boyd. He was a farmer from Stecker, OK. He was my Mom's Dad. He was married to Opal Mae Andrews. They had 4 children. My Uncle Gerald who is the oldest. Uncle Everett, Aunt Francis (another Francis) and then Mom, (her name is Jo Ann.) I believe your Father-in-Law is probably her first cousin. Was his mother Beaulah? Anyway, Uncle Everett said to talk to Elizabeth (they call her Lizzie.) That is where he got his information from. I will try to get ahold of her as soon as I get a chance, and I will get back to you. You may know her. She may be your husbands Aunt. Let me know if I am right or wrong about all of this. I did find out that John Wesley Porter was 7 years old when he was kidnapped by a man and his wife on a wagon. They took him to Oregon. When he turned 15 he ran away from them and tried to go back and find his parents. His parents knew who had kidnapped him and tried to find him, but they went to California. I think they must have kept trying to find each other but they never did. I have to ask Lizzie to find out. I'm glad you wrote. It's nice to know other people are as interested in this as I am. I would like to know where I could get a copy of those names in that cemetery. Is it the one in Apache? That is where my Grandpa Iams and some of his brothers are buried. But I never thought there were that many Iams buried there. I need to put in a note to Roberta Iiames (did I spell that right?) Before I go I just want to say I've never known finer people than the Iams. They are just good people. My Grandpa died when I was only 4 years old, but I will never forget him, and I'll tell you why. He told me to remember. And I still do. I'm sure I wouldn't if he hadn't told me to. He made sure I knew how important it was to remember things from when I was a kid and to this day I still remember things I shouldn't be able to. Like visiting Francis Wester when I was maybe 3. I remember going to the public swimming pool with her kids (I guess they were her kids, they were big kids) and my Mom. I was so little I was sitting in one of those styrofoam floats. The kind with the seat in them that looks like lawn chair material. Well anyway, that's unimportant! But I am grateful for that. That's why I'd like to get my family tree down for my children. I want them to know they come from some good people. And he deserves to be remembered.

Keep in touch! I'll let you know when I find out more.
