Sorry I lost touch, I stumbled upon this post again while surfing the web in class. If I think about it I will check this again in the future. Anyway, the building that the hardware store was housed in was my parent's store. They moved their store to a larger building a few blocks away and sold the building to a devloper from DC who is renovating the building into apartments. I assume they will remove the signature or at least cover it up in the renovations. There really isn't any additional info I can give you regarding the signature. I would be interested in anything you can tell me about the family name or individual members...I am mostly interested in life stories about the people rather than who married who. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
