My great grandfather was Matteo Iannone, born March 1872. Married Rachela Lauretano in Sessa Aurunca, Caserta Italy.
They had 3 living children while still in Italy:
Nunziata Iannone
Assunta Iannone
Maria Iannone
(One child Raffaele Iannone died in Italy at 3 yrs old prior to 1912.)
Matteo immigrated to Brier Hill OH via Ellis Island on the SS Indiana on 4/22/1909. His passenger records indicate he was to join his brother-in-law Salvatore Martone. Later Rachela with the 3 children joined him, arriving 8/16/192 on the SS Perugia.
They had 2 more children while in Ohio:
Concetta (or Constantina)Iannone
Josephine (or Giuseppina) Iannone
And after Nunziata's death in approx. 1915-16, they moved to New Jersey where they had 2 more children:
Carmelina (Nina) Iannone
James Iannone (Tannone)
I believe my great grandfather's (Matteo's) parents were Sebastiano Iannone and Carolina (or Carmelina) D'Onofrio.
I believe he was born in Salerno, though I'm not 100% sure.
