Greetings, I ran across a post from May of 2003 regarding Iannuzzis that lived near Salerno in the late 1800s. My great-grandfather was a Iannuzzi and emigrated around 1900. I'll need to check my parent's geneological records for exact dates and names. My grandfather was born in Bristol, PA around 1903. His names appears as Jannuzzio after passing through Ellis Island. A priest that I met in Bristol about 20 years ago told both my mother and me that the name was bastardized during the immigration process, but that it would be Iannuzzi. I am told that my great-grandfather was from Castelnovo (Valle Scalo), which is a little town in near Salerno. My wife and I are traveling to Rome for our honeymoon. I would like to take a day or two and head to Castelnovo, which my parents did in 1995. Unfortunately, the ink on the records from the town hall had faded. So, I'm looking for connections to that area with the name Iannuzzi. With tons of luck, I may be able to continue geneology for that branch of the family, despite the condition of the records. I also have the names of two Iannuzzis in Castelnovo, which are likely distant relatives. This is probably a long shot, but any input is helpful. Thanks.
