Hi everyone,

I guess I'm the first to post to this site. I'm trying to find any IARIAs interested in genealogy, since this is a rare name. This is what I have found on my IARIA line:

My father: Leonard Frank IARIA

His parents: Father: Stephen (Stefano) IARIA DOB: 20 NOV 1896, San Pantaleone, San Lorenzo, Calabria, Italy; DOD: May 1979, Harrisburg, PA. Lived in Harrisburg, PA as a barber known by his clientel at "The Count". Mother: Mary Margaret Hager DOB: 25 Jan 1909, Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, NC; DOD: April 1974, Harrisburg, PA.

children: Leonard, Stephen, Barbara, James

Stefano's parents: Father: Francesco IARIA, DOB: 16 May 1858, San Pantaleone, Italy; DOD: ?; Occupation: Massaro or farm manager. Mother: Antonia Mandalari; occupation: Spinner.

Known children: Stefano, Giacomo (DOB: 1899), Lorenzo (DOB:???)

Francesco's parents: Father: Giacomo IARIA; DOB: 1825, San Pantaleone; Occupation: Massaro or farm manager.
Mother: Antonina Zumbo, DOB: 15 Feb 1836, San Pantaleone.

Known children: Francisco, Bernardo (DOB: 12 Dec 1852), Pietro (DOB: 17 Oct 1855), Lucia (DOB: 10 Feb 1858), Lorenzo (DOB: 1875), Guiseppe(DOB: 17 May 1864).

Giacomo's parents: Father: Bernardo IARIA, DOB: 1781, San Pantaleone; DOD: 1 Mar 1844, San Pantaleone.
Mother: Anna Maria Conduni, DOB: 1785, San Lorenzo.

Known children: Giacomo and Carmela (DOB: 18 May 1831)

Bernardo's parents: Father: Domenico IARIA; DOB: abt. 1718; DOD: 28 April 1788, San Pantaleone. Mother: Putenziana Monti.

Known children: Bernardo IARIA

There is a interesting story that goes with my grandfather Stephen (Stefano) IARIA. As a child in San Pantaleone, he got into an agruement with another boy. He struck the boy and the boy fell over a cliff and died. Stefano's parents were forced to sell some land to pay off the family of the boy. Stefano later stowed away on a ship anc came to the U.S. settling in Harrisburg. My Aunt Barbara also tells me that my great grandmother (Mandalari) may have spoken Greek. My email address: troymorg@ev1.net
