Ubach from Barcelona

My grandfather was born about 1870 in Ribamondego, Portugal had the surname Ubach Chaves.

His father came originally from Barcelona, as far as known escaping punishment for political unrest, since he was a stout "catalano" opposing integration into Spain. He carried the name Ubach Chaves, a first name is unknown. He must have left Barcelona about 1870.

His father's main family name was Ubach, who married a Chaves descendant, giving to his child / children the surname of Ubach Chaves.

Does any one has an indication how Ubach came to Barcelona? I was always told as child that there are still cousins/elatives of my grand-grand-father in Barcelona.

Also I would be interested in any clue to this Chaves branch of my family.
