THE SURNAME IBARBURU

Hello everyone!

I may have Ibarburu ancestors... and not know about it! Some of my ancestors were from the Mexican states of Guanajuato and Michoacán, and of Basque descent. I recently came across some very old papers that had been preserved in my family, they are Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates of people with the following surnames: Arzac, Arrillaga, Berra, Casares, and Ybarburu. These papers are from the mid-18th century and the people mentioned in them were from the Basque Country, mainly from San Sebastián. I have not linked them to my ancestors, but I wonder why these papers have been in my family's hands for so long. My ancestors' Basque surnames are Heredia, Infante de Chávez, Olace, Otamendi, and Ruiz de Chávez. If anyone knows of a possible connection, please feel free to e-mail me; I'd really appreciate any help. -David
