Interested to see your message. I too was born in Sunderland (In Alexandra Road, very close to Grangetown)and my genealogical researches in retirement have brought me 'into' the IBBITSON' name, sometimes spelled with an 'O' in the middle. The North Eastern IBBITSON family I have been researching seemed to have been bottlemakers etc, had a connection with Southwick, Sunderland, and also with Stockton on Tees. Many male Ibbitsons did not marry. Do you have any information going back further than your Mother and Father? What I am particularly anxious to discover is the connection with IBBITSONs within the Bradford area, where according to census information, there were many. Naturally, I am happy to email you all my IBBITSON tree details if you can let me have your email address. The Christian names are:
Anthony, James, Joseph Stanley,Mary Jane, Sarah A, Thomas, and William

Colin Smith, Upper Longdon, Staffordshire
