Thank you so much for your interest in our quest for information on your family name. For some time we hit a brick wall with Janice's 3xgreat grandmother Nancy (Anne) Ibbotson. The thing that made us perervere was that Janice's great grandfather's sister, who lived in Hayfield DBY, was corresponding with her brothers in Australia. She kept referring to the IBOTTSON family in both Hayfield and Victoria Australia. Charles Ibbotson, who was living in Geelong Victoria Australia, was making quite a name for himself as a wealthy pastoralist and banker. You will find quite a story on him if you search the Web for the name "Charles Ibbotson, Geelong".
Your kind offer of a scan on the Ibbotson story would be most appreciated, as we have other members of the family in Australia who will also be interested. W could then assist them with this additional detail.
We have heard that there are connections with the family in Yorkshire and it would be interesting to see how these work out. I also have my own connections with Yorkshire, as that is where all my late mother's family now live, in Wetherby and Shipley where I have visited them on two prior occassions. Mum's late cousin, Preston Pilbin, was a teacher in Bradfield for some years.
