My 5-gts grandfather was Robert Ibbotson of Skirethorns who d. 2 Apr 1691. From your posting I gather that you descend from John Ibbotson, b. 1844 in Threshfield who married Dinah Pounder b. 1844 in Greenhow Hill. They had eight children, including your William Henry "Harry" b. 1879 in Threshfield who married Emma Limmer. All I have on your ancestor John Walter Ibbotson is his name. You have another cousin in Canada, Heather Ibbotson, who descends from Robert Ibbotson, the son of another John Ibbotson who was b. 1798 in Linton-in-Craven. (There are a lot of James and John Ibbotsons!) I visited North Yorkshire in 1990 and went to Ling House where I met Dinah Ibbotson Dean, a sister of John Walter. Her sister, Mary, was living in Skirethorns at the time. Neither had any interest in family history. Dinah did give me the names of all her brothers and sisters and their spouses. I would be happy to share this information with you if you will give me your address.
