Hi Barbara,
I am very interested in the information you found on the early Idens in Bucks county, Penn. Although the family must have come to Penn from Hamburg, Germany; I think it is also quite possible that they had moved from England to Germany just as our history books told us the "Pilgrims" went first to Holland to escape religious persecution in England before sailing from Plymouth to Mass. I base this opinion, and that is all it is, on the statement in the baptismal record of Johanna (could she be the Hannah in his will?) that the father was listed as Samuel Eiden (English Quasker). I know Wm Penn journeyed to Germany to solicit people to join his colony. My Castleberry (Kesselberg) grandparents turned out to be descended from German Mennonites and settled in Germantown, Penn abt 1700.
I am happy to get the full name of Samuel's wife. This fits with their son, Jacob's name. My husband's family descends from their daughter Sabilla Claypole and her son George Washington Iden. I agree this certainly deserves some serious research.
I'd like to keep in touch with you about any further revelations you or I can dig up.
Margaret
