Sarah Iiams/Ijams and Elizabeth (Gaither?) Iiams
In 1780, when Sarah Iiams/Ijams sold her two tracts called Ijams' Purchase and Iiams' Last Purchase to Gassaway Rawlings, she described herself as a spinster and GRANDDAUGHTER of Richard Iiams/Ijams Sr.who had purchased these lands from Benjamin Burgess in 1700 and 1704.Who were her parents? She was not the Sarah Iiams/Ijams, dau of Richard Iiams/Ijams Sr. by his second wife Elizabeth _____.Could she be the daughter of Richard Iiams/Ijams Jr. and Elizabeth (who later m. by July 1750widower John Cheney) and held these very two tracts by right of her former husband Richard Iiams Jr. before the lands somehow passed on to Sarah Iiams/Ijams? (Richard Iiams/Ijams is not to be confused with his father Richard Iiams Sr. who was still alive in 1761.)Moreover, could it be that it was this second Elizabeth, wife of Richard Iiams Jr., who was the one born a Gaither? This may explain all the confusion about why Richard Iiams Sr.'s wife Elizabeth could not be the daughter of that Gaither couple as discussed elsewhere on this link (which is correct).
