I would be grateful if one of the more knowledgeable person of good temperment would do a writ here to teach those of us who have little knowledge of the Ikard, Ikerd origins more. My great-grandfather: Walter Harold Grierson, b. February 22nd, 1872, Three Rivers, Jackson County, Mississippi married a Marguerite (Maggie) Almira Ikerd there in c1894 and had a number of children. She died young and was buried in Escatawpa, Jackson County, Mississippi. I found her grave and marked it along with her young sister, her mother and her father. Her father was William Fred Ikerd, a Civil War Veteran who boldly fought against the oppressive Union.
