On 19 Jan 1836, Uri/Uriah Martin, who married Rebecca Squires in Morgan Co OH 2 Jan, 1820 sold his land inhertitence in Putnqm County Ohio, and disappeared. He was born Aug 22 1798 in Steuben County,New York. His family migrated to Morgan County Ohio after 1810, but probably before 1820. Many family members, including his parents Elizabeth Searle and Daniel Martin moved on to Putnam County, Ohio. some family members stayed in Morgan County, others moved on to Greene/Clark Counties. Some family members moved again to Indiana, Iowa. Illinois, Missouri & even Michigan in later years. Many of their trails were followed, but Uriah {not to be confused with his uncle who married Rhoda Stiles}. Searching the BLM records, only two Uriah Martins appeared, one in Clay County,Illinois in what appears to be Songer Twp and another in Mississippi County, Missouri in Dec 1852 and Ocober 1853 respectively. Uriah would have been in his 50's by then, but long shot or not, you never know if there is a connection unless you ask the right people the right questions. Can any one identify the Uriah Martin in Clay County? I'd like to know, connection or not. Thanks! Penny
