Thomas Rogers is listed next to my GGG Grandfather Sewell Heflin in the Clay County Illinois census in 1840 but Sewel's land was in Louisville Township. Looks like Thomas first bought land from the State in 1833 in Hoosier township and then bought more in Larkinsburg township in 1848 near the south east corner of the township. Later a Thomas W. Rodgers bought Railroad land the same township in 1889. My Osborne's lived just east in Blair Township in the 1840's. They had some kind of trouble with Thomas's neighbors, Mary and Rowena Bond. My GG Grandfather John C. Osborn was shot but not killed not far east of where Thomas lived in 1848 at a place called Coleman's mill by Thomas Pettyjohn. Your Francis Herman bought land in Clay County Oskaloosa township in 1836,39 and 1870 but they all lived in the corners of the townships near one another and would have been neighbors. John and Willam Pugh lived in Blair Township and would have been neighbors too. I hope you are not looking for graves there because in that same corner is a cemetery named Bethel where a farmer used all the stones but one in side walks and his foundations as bricks. Your family names and mine lived in a circle around that cemetery in the corner of the four Townships. I don't know what you are looking for exactly but I would be glad to look around if you can tell me more information on Thomas.
Don Osborne
