Would anyone have any info on William R Woodward's death in 1898?

My uncle sent me this about his grandfather....has anyone in the Woodward line, or a connection, ever heard this story? I have heard about it, as well as the hundreds of relatives in genealogy but no one knows anymore than bits and pieces of this...uncle provided this detailed account, which is more than I had....anyone heard about this or more than I know? Anyone have access to these type of old records? Perhaps happened in Xenia, Kell etc area.

Thanks. PHuber56@aol.com SEE BELOW..story

"What I remember of the killing story is:
Wm went out into the yard and "someone" stepped out from behind a trellis (as I recall) and shot!/stabbed? killed him (I do not remember which way now).
Many/several years later, the story went, someone asked a question about wondering who had killed Wm. One of the cousins?/brothers?/uncles? answered to the effect that that problem "had been taken care of."
No indication whether the implied action was, in fact, taken or when or by whom or who the killer was. Or my question has always been: Why? If this happened, whoever made the comment couldn't say more without essentially admitting involvment in a serious crime."
