Jade: Norwood Park is in the City of Chicago - find O'Hare Airport on a map and you are in the right area. I also looked for the obituary in the Tribune but didn't find it. I found a few other things in other records that may be useful to you: 1920 US Census, Chicago, Cook County, IL (2117 Indiana Ave) Jennie Crippen, 52, born Ohio, parents born NY, PA, widow Stephen Crippen, 31, son, born Ohio, parents born MA, OH, clerk “electric” (I think the word is electric – hard to read). World War I Draft Registration, September 12, 1918, Cook County, IL Stephen John Crippen 2220 “Calumet?” Ave, Chicago (hard to read) Born: November 2, 1877 Elevator Operator, Belden Mfg Co., 2300 Western Ave, Chicago Nearest Relative: Jenny Crippen I couldn't find Jenny in the 1910 Census but did find: 1910 US Census, Chicago, Cook County, IL (3247 Graves Place) James L. Crippen, 44, wid., born Ohio, parents born England, France, visiting nurse Steven J. Crippen, 23, son, born Ohio, parents born NY, Ohio, clerk groceries What is odd is that after James L. Crippen, the boxes for Mother of How Many Children and How many alive at time of census are filled in (1 entered in each). This is obviously a mistake by the census taker since gender is clearly marked as male. It is also interesting that the son, Stephen was listed as 31 in 1920 (so, born ca 1889) but the Stephen John Crippen who registered for the WWI draft and listed Jenny Crippen as his nearest relative put his birth year as 1877. Finally, I found the following Crippens (maybe relatives): 1890 Voter Registration, Chicago Listed at 4716 Ohio Street: A.S. Crippen, Term of Residence in Precinct: 10 mo, County: 2 ˝ yrs, State: 2 ˝ yrs C.P. Crippen, Term of Residence in Precinct: 17 mo, County: 2 yrs, State: 2 yrs Both of these people were born in Ohio. Good luck in your research Paul Notify Administrator about this message?
