John Little, Lewis Cass Riley & Anna Little, 1820's

I'm looking for the Little and Riley families. Quoted leads from the book "A Reminiscent History of the Ozark Region," pgs. 741-742:
"James W. Riley's parents, Lewis and Ann (Little) Riley were born in Crawford Co., IL, in 1824 and 1829, respectively...James Riley's father died when James was a lad. John Little, his maternal grandfather, and his wife also died in Crawford Co., IL, so far as is known. He [John Little] was a native of Holland, but when a young man came to the United States, and became one of the wealthiest citizens of Crawford County."
I'm assuming that if John Little was one of Crawford Co.'s wealthiest citizens there must be more written about him. Association with banks, fraternal organizations, churches?
Or does Crawford Co. have old agricultural censuses?
Any hints on how to pursue the Little and Riley families would be appreciated. Both the surnames are very common and difficult to track.
