Sorry I missed your follow up. The James Cox who married Polly isn't the right James Cox. There were two.

My James Cox married Dianna Shipley in 1857 or 1858. I believe that he also married Ellen Umfleet in 1853. I am almost positive that he had married Keziah/Kesiah/Kissie Mills in NC before moving to Crawford County, IL.

My James lived quite close to the Lawrence County Line. The other James lived further north.

I think the link with the Highsmith's goes back to NC.
