The reason I questioned it is that none of the maps for the census years including 1850 as shown in "Map Guide to the U. S. Federal Censuses, 1790 - 1920" by William Thorndale and William Dollarhide show that DuPage ever had more than 9 townships. The same is true for the Illinois maps attached to the UsGenWeb DuPage County site that show the development of the counties through the years. I am willing to be shown otherwise with some proof. Perhaps someone else out there has something to add.

I have many ancestors from Downers Grove Township and grew up there also.
