St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, 22 August 1902:
Hugh Campbell, one of the old settlers of Wayne township, died Saturday morning. He was born at Paisley, Scotland, in 1831, coming to this country at the age of 20 years and engaging in business at Germantown, Pennsylvania, for a number of years. In 1860 he moved to Wayne and was associated in the general merchandise store with his brother David. At the latter's decease in 1862 he bought the stock and conducted the business to the time of his death.
