Looking information on the arrival and departure dates of Stephen & Fanny (Tupper) Matteson. Stepeh was son of (claimed) Revolutionary War soldier Thomas Matteson (Sr)

Thomas Sr's known children are :
1) Jemima b.~1774 RI d. >1840 (Ashtabula, OH?)
2) Thomas Jr b. 1789 (VT?) d. 1861 TX
3) Stephen b. 1798 NY d. 1875-80 OR
4) Susan b. 1801 NY d. 1880 WA Terr

(Thomas Jr was NOT born in Titusville, PA. He is listed as born in Vermont in the 1860 census. He died in Nacogdoches co., TX in 1861.)

Thomas Sr lived in West Greenwich, Kent, RI until at least 1782. His whereabout between 1782 and 1790 are unknown. He had moved to Burlington, Otsego, NY before 1799 (per Burlington, Otsego, NY tax lists), possibly between 1790-96.

In 1810 his son (Thomas Jr) moved to Chautauqua, Chautauqua, NY, and purchased T10, R 12, Lot 52. Father and siblings followed.

In 03 Nov 1817, Thomas Jr sold his lot in Chautauqua and moved to PA. Thomas Sr & Jr purchased 97 acres in Venango, PA on 29 Nov 1817. They lived there until 1822, when they sold the land and (probably) moved back to Chautauqa.

In 1828, Thomas Jr sold land in Chautauqua, NY and they (probably) moved to Hartsgrove, Ashtabula, OH. By May of 1830, Thomas Jr was well known enough to be elected Justice of the Peace there.

About 1835 they moved on to Illinois, the Fox River valley west of Chicago. Thomas Sr was living with youngest son Stephen there and Thomas Jr settled in what was to become Genoa, DeKalb, IL. Thomas Sr died sometime between 1840 and 1850 in Illinois. Thomas Jr moved to Nacogdoches county, TX in 1839. Stephen moved to DeKalb, IL by 1850 and moved West (Oregon) via the Oregon Trail in 1853-54
