Fr. Amala Joseph Madhichetty, S.D.B., 44, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 in Addison, Ill. Fr. Amala was ordained on Nov. 5, 1991 as a priest of the Salesian Province of Annai Velankanni-Tiruchy in South India. Fr. Amala has been in the Diocese of La Crosse since 2004. He served as Parochial
Administrator of Saint John the Apostle Parish at Whitehall and Saint Ansgar Parish at Blair from June to August of 2005. He was assigned as Parochial Administrator of Saint Paul Parish at New Lisbon and Our Lady of the Lake Parish at Germantown on Aug. 30, 2005, where he served until his death. There will be a Memorial Mass held at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in New Lisbon Thursday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. Bishop Jerome Listecki will be the main celebrant.
The Funeral Mass and burial will take place in his native country of India.

ADDISON, IL - Addison police are investigating the accident that killed a man trying to cross Lake Street.
Police said Amala Madhichetty, 44, of New Lisbon, Wis., was struck along eastbound Lake Street just after 5 p.m. June 9 in front of a Wendy’s restaurant, 655 W. Lake St.
Addison police Cmdr. Guy Hoffrage said Madhichetty was struck by an eastbound 2001 Ford Explorer while attempting to cross Lake Street. The driver’s name was not released since no charges have been filed in the accident.
The Wisconsin man was airlifted to Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, where he was pronounced dead at about 5:45 p.m., Hoffrage said.
No one else was injured in the accident. Police traffic officers and detectives in Addison are still investigating the accident.
