Hi Vanessa, My mother, her older brother and generations of grandparents were born in Edwards County, Illinois. The Vincent family, long a focus of my genealogy research, has been in Edwards County since before Illinois became a state. James Vincent arrived there in 1816 when Illinois was part of the old Northwest Territories. There are no Vincents by that surname there anymore, however, there are many, many Vincent descendants still in Edwards County. At the very least, you must visit the Edwards County Clerk's Office at the Courthouse and the Edwards County Historical Society where Lois Goodson, Lovelle Vallette or Sue Cullison will be glad to help. For me, both places have been a treasure trove of information for so many branches of my maternal family tree. Genealogy has been a "labor of love" for me. I'm glad you picked Edwards County and wish you great luck in your project. I live in Cerro Gordo, Piatt County, just west of the U of I in Champaign-Urbana. Thanks for your interest, Gary L. Shaffer
