The McGinnises/Maginnises, etc. were one of the Irish tribes whose territories were in Lecale & Kinelarty - South Down. For that reason the name is found in the greatest numbers in and around Newry. Various spellings are found such as Maginn and Mackin. The 1886 Directory for Newry lists 11 with the name Maginnis/Maginn and Mackin. Some of these may well be descendants, iam looking for Thomas OR William, Mcginnis 1710 or befor? Not sure of his first name. His son was John Mcginnis married Elizabeth Green, Their son was, Jesse McGinnis married ANN Read of ILL we are looking for any info on these families please; their son was John Kopel Mcginnis married. Mary Hardin Simmons, their son was James Thomas Mcginnis married Lillan Smith. Their son was Hugh Thomas Mcginnis WHO MARRIED MY GRANDMOTHER Christina May Michales their son, my father William Thomas Mcginnis, Married MY Mother, Sally Darnell Wright.
