I am looking for information on the Hamilton family around the effingham area. My gggrandfather was Simon (Jacob) hamilton born about 1847 in Ohio. The 1880 census listed his family as Daniel, David and Rufus Hamilton. Also listed was Wlliam, Sarha, Hannah Watson. I believe all these kids had the same mother , who was born in Ohio. Simon wife at the time was a Melinda Jaynes. She was born in Illinois, so she I feel she is not the mother of my ggrandfather Daniel (Tom) Hamilton. Daniel marriage Regina Barnhard around 1896. Regina died after child birh in early 1900's and Thomas(Daniel) remarried after that and moved to Chicago.
The family at one time lived in Clumberland County. Thanks for any help.
