I just discovered something interesting for my Isaac Harris and Rachel Angeline Radcliff line. They have 9 children in the 1865 IL census, I only knew of 7. I was missing one male and one female b.1856-1865. Actually 1861-1865 since they were not in the 1860 census with the family. The female is Gracie A. R. Harris. b/1861; md. 13 Feb 1878, FCI, Whitfield Scribner. The son is George, b.1861. In 1879 Gracie Harris, age 9 is found in the Fayette Co, IL census, Ramsey, 21 Jul 1870, 83/83 in the household of Easton Casey and Mary Jane (Hill). When Gracie marries in 1878 her guardian, Levi Sears give consent. George is found in 1870 census in the home of Levi Sears, Hurricane Twp, FCI, p.136, 23 Jul 1870. What ID's this as Isaac's son is that Levi Sears gives consent for George's sister Gracie to marry. The md cert states that Gracie is Isaac's dau. They fit the two missing children listed for Isaac in the 1865 IL census, b. 1856-1865 but not shown in the 1860 census for Isaac. Levi Sears' wife is Francis Jane Harris, d/o William B. Harris. Could this Wm be Isaac's cousin? I was trying to figure out why they had Isaac and Rachel's two younger children. Them being "family" might explain it. I guess if there are court records on the guardianship it could explain it? Does anyone here have access to Guardianship records for 1865-1870 and could check this situation out for me, PLEASE :) Would appreciate any further data on these two and how this all came about??
