Seeking information on Otho Davenport & wife Verlinda nee Davenport abt 1789/90 VA. Need some documentation on parentage of both husband & wife.
1810 They married in Randolph Co., IL. She is listed
as "Liny".
1812 son William H. Davenport born in KY. There may be other earlier children.
1818 they are listed in both Edward Co., IL and Gallatin Co., IL. Shawneetown, (across the river from Union Co., KY)
1820 Federal Census in Gallatin Co., IL.
1828 daughter Mary Davenport b in KY.
1830 daughter Maria Davenport born in IL.
1833 Opened a school in Stevenson Twp, Marion Co., IL per "Brinkerhoff's History of Marion Co., IL".
1833 son James H Davenport born in IL.
1834 son Henry Davenport born in IL.
1836 son Adrian Davenport born in Iowa(Wisconsin Territory).
1838 Iowa State Census, Wisconsin Territory,Scott Co, Iowa,1838 Territorial Census Index.
1850 IL Federal Census St Clair, IL, Dist 3 Pg 282,age 62.
1860 IL Federal Census St Clair, IL. wife Verlinda is widow.
John Davenport abt 1785-1854(wife Kitty Higgins)& son of Adrian Davenport (wife Nutty Chapman) was in both Clay Co., & Marion Co., Il in 1830's, 40's & 50's. Brother James Davenport(1800-1804) was fighting the Black Hawk Indians in 1832 all per "Brinkerhoff's History of Marion Co., IL". James was also with brother Marmaduke Davenport(abt 1784), &son Adrian H Davenport(abt 1816)when they went to Rock Island,IL as Indian Agents, and then on to Scott Co, Iowa about 1834. (Per "History of Scott Co., Iowa".)
Was Otho with them as well? Is he a brother of John, Marmaduke & James? And son of Adrian,Sr & Nutty Chapman Davenport? Or is his wife Verlinda Davenport a daughter and sister of the above named Davenports?
Adrian Davenport's brother Stephen had a wife named Verlinda, to make matters more complicated!
