Dear Joseph,
I have Lewises of Clay Co, IL. From what I understood at the time that I was researching my Lewis line that they came in thru OH etc. There was a group of Lewises out of Bible Grove, Clay Co and supposedly not related to my line. Another thing that caught my eye was Smithland,
Livingston, KY. I am looking for a John Robert Raley
born abt 1787 NC who was married to a Catherine Rossiter
born abt 1796 MD. I have heard from a Stacy Gaskins whose ancestors were friends of my Raleys. Finally entermarrying.
She gave me the info that the Gaskins & Raleys had lived in Smithland, Livingston, KY, at one time before migrating to southern IL. Gaskins to Saline Co and Raleys to Clay Co, IL. In your research have you run across the Gaskins or Raleys? I would be interested in corresponding with you.
