I actually live in Vanderburgh County, Indiana (Evansville). We do have a wonderful resource here in Willard Library.
The Wenzel's, Zirkelbach's, and Doerr families had settled here for a period of time. I have a Wendel Wenzel in my family tree, born 18 Oct 1859 in Armstrong Twp, Vanderburgh, Indiana, and died 06 Feb 1931 Ridgway, Gallatin, Illinois, USA. He was the son of Peter Wenzel and Theresa Rachel Gass (Goss?). Peter was from Batern Germany, and had settled for a time in Ohio. The Wenzel's lived on the western border of Vanderburgh County in a parish community called St. Wendel's. There were a number of mattiages between this family and the Zirkelbach's. Anna Katherine Wenzel married my g-grandfather William Joseph Zirkelbach. John M Wenzel married Mary C. Zirkelbach. George W. Wenzel married Anna Barbara Zirkelbach. Wendel (one census record shows Wendelinus) married Theresa Frances Sauers.
