Hi, don't know if you have found the information you were seeking for John L Marsh or not.
His parents were Thomas Marsh b. 15 Mar 1828 Tennessee(Warren Co ?) and Sharlotte Morgan b. 1838 d. 17 Mar 1920; Her parents were Uriah and Rachel Morgan. She was married first to a Damon.
Thomas Marsh was the son of William T. Marsh b. Oct 1792 Surry, NC d. 1867 MO and Edith Paul b. 1797 NC; They married in Surry NC in 1817;
Thomas was married first to Nancy Ann Moss daughter of William C and Nancy Ann Moss of Bledsoe, TN and then later Hamilton, IL; I believe Thomas and Nancy Moss married in Bledsoe Co. TN abt 1852/1853; They had the following children: Benjamin Franklin Marsh b. 1854 IL; Francis Marion Marsh b. 1856 IL; Mary Jane Marsh 1858 IL m. Curron Williams 27 May 1875.
Thomas and Sharlotte had Nancy Ann Marsh b. 1863, John L Marsh b. 1865-1866; Laura Marsh b. 1868; Lovelace E Marsh b. 1871; and Edith Marsh b. Jan 1875;
