Looking to share info on the following:
Haywood G. Bennett, son of Peter and Elizabeth Pomfret Bennett was born 04/10/1795 in Person Co., North Carolina; died 03/20/1872 in Ripley Co., Missouri. He married as his second wife Sarah Elizabeth Clark(e), born 08/02/1817 in Jackson Co., Tennessee, died 11/19/1868 at an unknown location.
They moved to Illinois and are listed in the 1860 U. S. census and in the 1865 Illinois State census.
Some of Haywood's children from his first marriage to Esther L Houston moved to Hamilton Co. with them, along with Haywood and Sarah Elizabeth' two sons John Pomfret Bennett and Henry Claudius Bennett.
Children from the first marriage that moved with them were:
Robert Houston Bennett (1822-1880) and wife Agnes and whose last two children were born in Hamilton Co.
Mary Elizabeth Bennett (born 1831) who married Edwin W. Griffin in Hamilton Co. on 11/04/1860. Their children were Hetty Betty, Haywood Gran Bennett, Julian Pomfret and Harriet.
I think Haywood's wife Sarah Elizabeth Clark Bennett died in Hamilton Co., but haven't been able to find any proof of this.
Haywood and Sarah Elizabeth are my great-great grandparents. Would love to make connection with anyone from this family.
