Seeking information on yet another child of James Horace GOODWIN and Ruth NEGLEY. This time it is William A. GOODWIN (6th child and 5th son of Jaames Horace and Ruth) and his family. William A. Goodwin was born in PA (probably Tarentum or Deer Twp., Allegheny Co.,) in 1849. He accompanied his family to Clark Co., Missouri before the 1860 census . I could not find William in the 1870 census. William next appears in Jefferson Co., IL in 1880 with a wife, Mary E. unknown and a newborn son, George E. Mary E. unknown was born in IL in Aug 1857, but that is all we know about her. Between 1880 and 1900 George and Mary have three other children: Maud, Ruth and unknown (who probably died young). In the 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses, William appears to be in St. Louis, first working as a Marble Cutter and than as a stone and masonary builder and contractor. Mary appears to have died after 1920 and William is listed as a widower and living with son George in 1930. Questions: Where was William between 1860 and 1880? Could he have served in the military in the Civil War (he would have been young, but . . . . .)? When did he die (after 1930) (probably St. Louis) and where is he buried. What was Mary E. ‘s last name and who were her parents? When did she die (probably St. Louis, MO) and where is she buried. Willing to share information.
