Illinois Statewide Marriage Index shows G. W. Bean married Caroline M. Lane on 12 Jun 1861 in Johnson Co IL. She is thought to have been Caroline McClain, daughter of John and Lydia McClain of Weakley Co TN. According to a posting at the Bean Family Genealogy Forum, George was the son of John B. and Mary J. (Houser) Bean.
George W. Bean was born 24 Jan 1840 in KY, d 11 Apr 1915, and is buried in Freedom Church Cem, Williamson Co IL.

According to the Carter Co MO 1900 census, Caroline was the mother of eight children, five of whom were living in 1900. Names of children found in various censuses are:
1. John Bean, b ca 1862. Found only in 1870 census.
2. Eljiva Bean, b 13 May 1867, d 27 Feb 1940; m Union Co IL 18 Feb 1884 Thomas S. Butts, b 13 Feb 1860, d 21 Jun 1932. Both bur Freedom Church Cem, Williamson Co IL. Family appears in the 1900-10-20 Williamson Co censuses. ("Eljiva" on death record and in tombstone transcription; "Ella J." on marriage record; Caroline and "Ebsiva" in census, and elsewhere as "Elsiva".)
3. Sarah Ann Bean, b 7 Apr 1869, d 30 Nov 1945, evidently married at least three times: 1st Thomas Penrod 1884 Union Co IL, 2nd William R. Mofield 1889 Union Co IL, 3rd James Wilder 1900 Carter Co MO. WorldConnect submissions give her place of death as Poplar Bluff MO and burial place as Post Oak Cem, McDougal Co AR. Lived Clay Co AR in early 1900's.
4. George W. Bean, Jr., b Sep 1875, m Union Co IL 31 Jul 1897 Clarissa Penrod. They appear in the 1900 Union Co census.
5. Odos? W. Bean. In 1900 census of Carter Co MO.
6. Charles Bean, b Sep 1884. In 1900 census of Carter Co MO.
