I'm am sorry I did not answer you earlier, but I have to go to the county seat to answer e-mail and I haven't been well. In answer to your question, yes, the Ladies of the G.A.R. is what is called an "Allied Order" to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. To be an Allied Order, you had to be affiliated with the Grand Army of the Republic and approved by them. However, the Ladies of the G.A.R. and the Sons of Union Veterans are totally independent of one another though they do sometimes cooperate on things.
