Niantic township "sticks out like a sore thumb" from other counties making up Macon County and gives on a townships map appears as though the township "juts" over into Sangamon County. Is there a story, or "politics" as to the formation of the townships and the reason for Niantic Township "jutting out" like it does. It would appear that it was easier for Niantic residents to go to the nearby towns in Sangamon County for business, or other purposes resulting in some vital records events being recorded there rather than in the county seat town of Macon County.
