Sheri, Your Thomas L. Jones had lots of brothers and sisters - eleven in all. Elizabeth was his sister, not his mother. Thomas F. Jones was married to Lydia Bohrer. Lydia died in 1862 so Elizabeth is listed second in the 1870 census because her mother is deceased and she is the oldest daughter still living at home. I found the following obituary for Thomas F. Jones. Decatur Republican, Decatur IL, 7 Mar 1872. (copies of this historical newspaper at newspaperarchive.com, ancestry.com or libraries) Another of the pioneers of Macon County rests from his labors. Thomas F. Jones of Mt. Zion township, died on Tuesday, February 27th, after a brief illness. Mr. Jones was born in Pickaway county, Ohio, April 18th, 1811. He was married October 15th 1829, to Lydia Bohrer, who proved to be to him a worthy and affectionate helpmate. In 18?? the young couple, impressed with the idea that the fertile and boundless prairies of Illinois offered to them opportunities for improving their condition in life, started with their worldly goods and little children for the then unknown country which was destined to be their home for the remainder of their natural lives. Settling in this county, near the very spot which is now the resting place of their mortal remains they began the struggles incident to life in a new country - full of that determination which subdues the wilderness, and makes of the desert a fit abode for man. Skipped 2nd paragraph. Mostly prose, no facts. Eleven children were born to them nine of whom four sons and five daughters survive. On the 17th of March 1862, the good wife and mother passed to her reward, lamented by all who knew her and leaving behind her a legacy of good works which is still a source of joy to all who knew her. In 18?0 Mr. and Mrs. Jones united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Mt. Gilead and during the remainer of their lives continued to be faithful and exemplery members of that body. The funeral of Mr. Jones took place at Mt. Zion, on Wednesday, and was attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors of the deceased. An appropriate discourse was preached by Rev. Ira Emerson of this city from Job, 14th chapter and 10th verse. Skipped last paragraph. Mostly prose. There are two family trees that include Thomas F. Jones at Rootsweb.com. There is also a Public Member Tree at Ancestry.com called the Jones Family Tree by djones3429 that has a very well resourced tree that includes your ancestors. According to these trees, Thomas F. Jones was the son of Isaac Jones and Doracy Baily. Lydia Bohrer was the daughter of Peter Bohrer. I am not related. It was a pleasure to help. -- Pam Notify Administrator about this message?
