The burial location of Sarah Margaret Pigg has turned out to be an interesting search :) I will explain, but first I want to mentioned that Virgil & Rose Gibson died in St. Clair Co. IL - Virgil's date of death is correct, June 25, 1988, his wife Rose date of death was May 16, 1982. Information on their death is from the St. Clair Co. IL court house. I will check for an obit on them at the Belleville library when I go.
Hopefully the information below will make sense on Sarah:
Sarah M Pigg - On Find A Grave there is no listing of a ADKINS cemetery, there is a listing for a ATKINS cemetery, before I would (will) submit information on Sarah, I wanted to check to see if there was actually a ADKINS cemetery in or near Drake, MO (her obit does list her burial location as Drake, IL). I called the Gasonade County Historical Society and spoke with 'Missy' - she was not aware of either cemetery ADKINS or ATKINS in the area. She did some checking and this is what she found:
Pg. 91 of the Gasonade Co. Cemetery Record lists - Sarah Pigg being buried in the Bay Bethel Cemetery formely known as the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. The cemetery is located closer to Bay, MO., than to Drake, MO. There was a lady in the GCHS when Missy asked a co-worker if there was a ADKINS or ATKINS cemetery around the Drake area, her co-worker didn't know - but the lady that was there said it was the ATKINS cemetery near Bay.
I asked if this Sarah Pigg date of death was April 8, 1951 and she said yes...I just wanted to make sure that perhaps another person was buried at this cemetery with the same name, but not the same date of death - but they were the same. Besides Sarah, her husband - Charles Pigg who died in 1913 there is a Sadie Pigg d/o Charles & Sarah b. 1896 - d. 1948. No other Pigg surname was listed for this cemetery.
Missy also checked to see if there were any probate records were listed for Charles or Sarah - there were none. She also said the Gasonade County Cemetery Record book was still available to purchase (if interested). She believe it was $15 or less. I told her I would pass all this information onto you about the cemetery and the book.
I did send Missy a copy of Sarah Pigg obituaries where they would have copies of it from the Grantie City Press Record newspaper.
With this information on Sarah's burial location - I thought of submitting Sarah's obituaries under the ATKINS Cemetery since it is listed and then include the information from her DC that lists Drake, MO as the burial location AND the information from the GCHS on the name of the cemetery they have her listed under. I wanted to check with you first.
I also tried checking for the Bay Bethel Cemetery/Pilgrims Rest Cemetery on the internet and had little success. The below link is the only thing I have found so far.
