Hi Richard (sorry for calling you Robert)-
I sent a copy of Minerva Merritt & Ada Carpenter obits to your email - hopefully they came through. They are posted on the Find A Grave website.
Ada's burial location was not mentioned in her obit, but hopefully we'll be able to locate if she was buried in Madison Co. Ada's son, Elmer was not mentioned in her obit, but was Minerva's. I checked the SSDI and there is a Elmer Carpenter who died in St. Clair Co. - do you think this could be her son ? If so, on my visit to the Belleville library I will check for an obit on him.

I normally would have offered / included a photo of Minerva's marker - the cemetery where she is buried was abandonded over 60 years ago. It is located next to the St. Marks Cemetery (also abandoned). The stones that had been in both cemeteries were removed in the 70's due to them being vadalized / destroyed over the years. I have not checked into this yet, but in the information I've read it states that remains from these cemeteries were relocated to another cemetery - Calvary Cemetery in Glen Carbon. This is something I need to check into :)
Vicki
