Snider/ Sheff

Hello everyone... I am hoping someone can help me.

Fred Snider married Valeria Chappee married around 1902 (according to the 1910 census). In the 1910 census, they are living in Alton on Elm Street. I found different news snippets on newspaperarchive on Fred and his wife through 1913.

They are in the Alton City Directories from 1906 through 1913.

In the 1920 census, Valeria is living with two gentleman (brothers) and she is a housekeeper for them. She died in 1923. Fred is not mentioned at all in her obit...

I assumed that Fred died before 1920 as she states she is widowed in the 1920 census. I looked on the IL Death Index and he wasn't listed so again I assume he died between 1913 and 1915.

Well I found another news snippet on 13 Oct 1913 that stated: "Joseph Snider of the State of Washington who arrived from Oklahoma last week and has been visiting his
niece, Mrs. Emma Armstrong, has gone to Jersey County to visit a son. His son, Fred, who lived here has left
Alton and could not be located."

I am not sure who the son in Jersey County is because Joseph and his wife had 4 sons, Charles (who lived in Oklahoma at the time), Fred E., Ephriam (who lived in Sterling, Whiteside, Illinois at this time), and Clarence B. (who lived in Oregon at this time)... So... who is he visiting in Jersey County? Did he think Fred was living in Jersey County?

Anyway I found this week that Valeria Chappee Snider is buried at Upper Alton but Fred is no where to be found...

Does this name ring a bell with anyone? Does the Snider name ring a bell?

Thanks!
Juls
