I copied (sumerized)the following information from an obituary in the Lacon Home Journal for 3 Apr 1952--CHARLES O SWANSON 78 RETIRED FARMER AND SPARLAND RESIDENT FOR MANY YEARS WAS BURIED 29 MAY 1952 IN SPARLAND CEMETERY.hE WAS BORN 20 JAN 1874 IN STOCKHOLM SWEDEN THE SON OF JOHN AND MARIE ANDERSON SWANSON. HE WAS MARRIED TO MARGARET DEWALT OF SPARLAND AND TO THIS UNION THERE WERE FIVE CHILDREN, TWO SURVIVE ALONG WITH THE WIDOW.HE CAME TO THIS COUNTRY AT THE AGE OF 18 AND SHORTLY AFTER MADE HIS HOME IN SPARLAND. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE SPARLAND METHODIST CHURCH, SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, ONE SON CLYDE SWANSON OF PEORIA HEIGHTS (ILL) ONE DAUGHTER, MRS. PAUL REED ALSO OF PEORIA HEIGHTS,14 GRANDCHILDREN, 1 GREAT GRANDCHILD AND ONE SISTER HANNAH TURUNEN OF DETROIT MI---this is apparently the right guy as the birth and death dates match--apparently there was some name changing.--JOHN R.
