Mary Cowan - married Lacon, Marshall Co. IL - 1845

I'm trying to find information about Mary Cowan who married Curtis Chance in Lacon, Marshall County, Illinois in June of 1845. It's believed they had a child together and travelled to California in the gold rush. I find references in Putnum Co. to a William and Thomas Cowan - wondering if this is any relation to Mary?
