Marriage 1827 near Old Massac Fort

I have been trying to find a record of marriage that ocurred in 1827 near Old Massac Fort (then Pope County) by Captain Williamson. The marriage was between John Alexander Evers and Cynthia Brookshire. Various family members has word of mouth how the couple eloped on horse back to the Ohio River and took a boat and were married on the Illinois side, near old Massac Fort. I have checked Ancestry.com and state of Illinois archives and don't find any record. It is possible that Captain Williamson was a boat captain. Does anyone have information that would assist me in finding this marriage?
