Early McHenry County Vital Records?

I would like to find a birth record for my GGrandfather, James Henry Rice. He was born in McHenry County Illinois on January 01, 1845 and in the 1850 Federal Census was living with his parents John and Mary Ann Rice in the Town of Greenwood. The McHenry County web page says they only have birth records from 1877 forward. Does anyone have a suggestion of where else I can look for early McHenry county birth records?
